I installed Phorum  

I think I like it. I'll have to see what the Dregston citizens think. It doesn't have one feature that might be missed -- a view of the full text of all posts in a thread.

Earlier this month a former Illinois governor was convicted on multiple corruption charges. I can't find the quote, but it rang true to me when I read a comment from a political science professor saying that while there were excesses, it wasn't like it was a unique dirty deed in a clean system. Same goes with big favors for college athletes.

Anyway, the New Orleans Saints (second to pick) just grabbed him up. Good move, should be good for the city.

Phorum opinions 

Anyone have experience with Phorum message boards? DCForum development has been abandoned and the spam problem is getting extreme.

My requirements: threaded and LAMP. I guess I'd consider Perl, but only if it uses a database.

Poor Adam 

My older son has to work today. He works in a store, so he can peek at a web page, but can't watch TV. So I'm checking around to see if somebody or some site is liveblogging the NFL draft. Seems like somebody must be doing that. Oh, maybe a chat room.

Later: I guess he's blocked from any site except gamesworkshop.com and Yahoo, so this one looks like a good bet.
