Whole different kind of procedural drama Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I've been watching Numb3rs on DVD. It isn't quite what it could be, but I'm impressed that a show about a math professor gets to stay on the air, and I like the characters.

I've always liked Rob Morrow from Northern Exposure days, and I was a little surprised he is able to pull off the action thing. I remember doubting Bruce Willis and Matt Damon as live action figures, too, but darned if they weren't able to do it too.

Peter MacNichol I think is a great nerd type. For days I have been keeping myself from peeking at IMDB. I was trying to recall on my own in what movie he did an Eastern European accent and played a wimpy artsy type. I gave in. It was in Ghostbusters II. He was the painting restorationist who turned out to be the villian. I see he's going to appear in the new season of 24. Wonder if he'll be a good guy. Maybe he'll take the job of the computer guy who worked for Chloe and got killed in an episode I missed.

I'll never forget seeing GBII in the theatre with my then 5-year-old, who was in the midst of his Ghostbusters phase. The cartoon was out by that time, and our house was full of Ecto 2s, PKE meters, a firehouse, proton packs and slime. The theatre was packed with kids, and when movie started and the theme music came up the place just started rocking out, little bodies dancing in their seats and everybody smiling.
