Wednesday, May 02, 2007Wednesday, March 14, 2007Dedric Doesn't Know-Coup de Coeur A group in Second Life, the Elephant Gods, want my land on Yeolmae, because it bisects their properties. Dedric Mauriac showed me some properties he had on the Higgins sim. He showed me land he had acquired, Woodbridge, and I swooned. Good thing he couldn't see it in SL. I fell in love with this place, it is perfect, like a little village in Brittany/Normandy. Maybe I can sell off all my land and get it...after my presentation in St. Louis in April. The last time I saw Sidra was at the ill-fated Anshe Chung interview . I was thrilled to see her at Astrin Few's weekly concert at Bliss Basin-something I try to not miss. The crowd was studded with a lot of old-timers, because Astrin was the first live performer in SL. The last time I saw Sidra, before the last time I saw Sidra, was in RL in NYC: Tuesday, March 13, 2007Relay For Life Concert was a BIG SUCCESS The Groovy Kinda Quest Team raised over 80,000 Lindens thanks to the generosity of Grace McDunnough, Montrealer Moody, and Montian Gulrith--all of whom performed live at Mill Pond. Thanks go out to Micala Lumiere for providing the venue, and just being an all around giving person. Pics are here-this is Elliebob Bens' Stream and likely to change soon, and here. Blog entry here. It has a bad rap, but I still do it sometimes. I found a painting of Madame de Pompadour on line, and loved her frock so much I did a Second Life mock up. The result is pleasing, but could used more work: Wednesday, March 07, 2007I (DrFran that is) was on the Radio! I appeared as a live interview guest on the Second Life radio show of cypress Rosewood, Meriin of Music. I was very nervous because I realized that most of the audience of fellow elves and students from my building classes had never heard my voice. I was heartened by the encouragements I received in IM, and the people that showed up for the show. Contessa Marquez, Tyrovant Talbot, Fox Obviate, Of course RodneyLee and Vanilla Jessop, and Forcythia Wishbringer, the queen of the Elf Lands--now called High Fantasy Lands. Works for me. I was summoned by my friend Bloomsbury--from where in London?--to visit an exhibition: The Garden of Immersive Sound and Vision. This was several walk into installations that created visual and auditory stimulation. I loved it!!!!! I went back a few times, because I could not believe what I had experienced. Here I am outside a Adam Ramona sculpture, You walk through the blue, and sounds emerge. Quite dreamy. The installation is on Marni. Don't forget to come to Grace McDunnough this Sunday at 5 at the Tavern at Mill Pond. Wednesday, February 28, 2007A few months is a lifetime in SL: VIRGINS: Here I am with my beloved Second Life friends: Micala Lumiere, Grace McDunnough, and Reginald Golding atop a mountain on Micala's hours old new sim. She has plans, all right, but I won't leak the scoop. After we viewed the sim, Reginald took us to his new space station atop the original sim of Mill Pond. Sorry, I didn't take any pics. If I can find it again, I will. For some reason (never mind, you!!) I felt like going to the Ethics Group discussion--a thing I haven't done for a Second Life lifetime. I was so happy to see Ebonfire Harbinger and Lyra Blackthorne there. They are two folks I know from my teaching. Ebonfire is a guy who is a lion and has a pride of womenfolk. In real life this would never work with me, but he is so intelligent here that I ignore and don't judge him. Wish I could translate this acceptance and tolerance into real life. At an Elf Circle meeting last week I caught up with Rhiannon Chatnoir, who like Vanilla Jessop is someone who was kind to me in my early days in Second Life. I don't forget. She is a brilliant builder and lives, like others of her ilk, by the code of the Elves--good values and great people. Sorry about the pics from the other day. OPML borks easily and I don't have hours to fix it |
