LOL! 'Dave is such a stud when it comes to driving' Permanent link to this item in the archive.

An OPML blogger from New Zealand dreams of riding with Dave Winer. He also wants to be as cool as Kosso and he wants to be Wil Wheaton, and he wants a code name. What would be a good name that nails all that charming longing to be a geek whose name is recognized?

Ultimate little chick book Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The passage from the last round of my literature game was from Little Women, the training ground for girls who grow up to become women who like stories like Pride and Prejudice. Play the passage for the current round. The book -- if not the passage I've chosen to represent it -- is a couple orders of magnitude less precious than Little Chicks.

I'm not as sure of this theory, but I sort of believe that some girls in my generation who grew up to be women who like British accents and Colin Firth types may have had their training with Davy Jones from the Monkees. When I was 12, he seemed just right. Now I can't see it.

Junked a monitor Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I just hauled a broken monitor out to the trash. I remember buying it reburbished for something like $60. I went to a warehouse where there were thousands of used monitors, all stored on the floor, on tarps or rugs or something, screens facing down. All in rows. It might have reminded me of Arlington National Cemetary, but it struck me more like a big nursery, loads of babies in cribs, sleeping on their tummies, scrunched up, bottoms in the air the cute way babies do sometimes.

11 years ago today Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I remember when I wrote this because it was the day before my birthday:

I took off my wedding ring today.

The skin beneath was withered and rotted,

Like my soul.

I am happy to report that my soul is in fine shape these days.

Start all over? I broke my blog ... :-(  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Crap. Well, scientific method. Change just one thing at a time, right? Methodical plodding is good in such circumstances, but I'm not in the mood for it right now.

Later on: the URL changed from amy to amyloo. When I started fresh, I guess I thought it would become a separate account, but forgot that that's controlled by the email address and password, so the plain old amy directory is is gone, or inaccessible.
