Should I show you what to do?
Want me to do a quick screencast to show how to start a new outline file and stuff so you can make your cars list? I have a little time tonight. I do the including for the big outline, so you don't have to worry about that part or think it's anything hard to do. You gotta promise you won't mind that I'm not spending a lot of time cleaning up the demo. I waste more time doing that. That often causes me to decide not to do a screencast that has to be presentable (for company, not family) because I know I'll end up di-- fooling around with it so much.
Want to play 'list your cars?'
I keep wanting to play with inclusion in the world outline, and I think I've come up with something that might be an easy test directory topic -- not too time-consuming for anybody to throw together, and kind of a fun nostalgia trip: all the cars you've ever owned. If you want to play or have an idea for a better structure, email me at amybellingerATgmail.com or post to the newbie list.
Here's what I thought it might look like
| | All the cars we've ever owned |
| | Make and model -- make this the top level for your file, not your name, I'll put that in |
| | Details including model year and year purchased |
| | 1969, bought 1972, $200, hunter green |
| | Sold it for $75 with no first or second gear, buyer got second gear going by adding a quart of oil! |
| | 1969, bought 1973, $800, red, "Automatic stick shift" |
| | 1970, bought in 1975, Gold with white top, 350cc, 2-door |
| | Best air conditioning ever, needed in St. Louis! Perfect highway car. |
To discover intersections among contributors, I suppose you'd use OPML search. Say I wanted to see which other OPML bloggers have owned Beetles, I'd just search on Beetle and limit the search to the ourcars.opml file: raw OPML | rendered OPML.
