I found your car list in OPMLsearch. Did you want it to be included in the roll? Your email address wasn't in your OPML file, and I didn't know how to reach you. I think Bela does have a way to be reached, but I'll pose my question for him here, too. I added each of the car lists individually in the form on the publish page because they were not coming up in my search. I wonder if there would be an easy way to have the search engine go out and find files included in an outline and add them to your database. Amy Gahran will be converting her "Women in Podcasting" list to OPML. I added Hil's cars to the "All the cars we've ever owned" distributed OPML directory. I had to know what a Holden Commodore is. Holden is an Oz division of GM. Car model names are so funny, anywhere, any time period. Personally I bristle against the marketing practice the last 15-20 years of naming products or companies with made-up words that have been scientifically determined to sound right for the purpose, or maybe they have part of a word that's supposed to appeal to us. Like Acura, which I imagine is supposed to make us think of accuracy or precision. Or Accenture; what's that supposed to convey? Accent implying sharp, cutting edge incisiveness, I suppose. Why can' t we have real words? My friend Henry's last name is Churchyard and I needle him about it. He says it's better than having a name like Bellinger that looks like it should be a word but it isn't. Discussion of a proposed ownerid subelement to OPML The ownerid value would be a link to an email form, so the file maintainer's email address wouldn't have to be in the file. I can see how that would work. There are a lot of hosted services where you could rig up a form like that if you didn't know how to make one yourself. Like a lot of site add-ons like that, they're usually either fee-based or free and supported by advertising. For anyone setting up a public OPML community server, it would be a nice value-added service, a point of differentiation. Has anybody announced plans to run a hosting service? Kosso? I told my kids they ought to give it a shot. Adam's working on some kind of Linux certification. Pitzer Brothers OPML Hosting, Warhammer Model Painting and Lawn Mowing Services, Ltd. Mom would help, but Mom wouldn't want the headache of support. I have a variable tolerance for helping people with computer problems. Sometimes I love taking the time to spell things out; other times I just can't deal with it. |
