OPML in widgets and gadgets?  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

It would take me days to figure out how to do this myself, but there are dozens of people around here who could work it out in an hour. Somebody really ought to play around with bringing OPML into a widget -- just to learn what kinds of things need to be done in widgets and gadgets in general to read OPML files. I searched on OPML in the Konfabulator gallery and didn't find that any of the 1,500 widget descriptions mentioned OPML.

This might be a good one to play around with remixing. It's written to allow a number of RSS feeds (unlike the majority of the 200+ RSS reading widgets that display one feed), but the file that stores the aggregated feeds isn't an OPML subscription list. Almost is though. Probably could be, should be.

"Wait'll you see my Gidget, you'll want her for your valentine. You're gonna say she's all that you adore, but stay away; Gidget is spoken for. You're gonna find that Gidget is miiiiine."

I know what Alex meant when he said:

But who would create an OPML file with a car's make, model, colour, etc? As we were talking it occurred to me that there is an OPML experiment going on called 'my car roll' started by Amy Bellinger. A car roll is a list of all the cars you've ever owned, with details, such as, you guessed it - make, model, year, colour and whether you liked it or not, published as OPML file.

But I still got a giggle out of the possible dual readings of this part:

...and whether you liked it or not, published as OPML file

Dadgumit, I'll publish yer stinkin file whither you lahk it er not!
