In the aggregator template. Wonder what that does.

I'll copy in a post from Dave to the newbie list about the variable for the path to the www folder so there's a record here of most everything related to the NewsRiver template stuff:

Amyloo asks a question on her blog...

This is a variable that contains the path to the www folder...

dotOpmlData.folderwatcher.prefs.folder

So if you want to refer to a file named mystuff.opml at the top level of the folder, you'd say:

dotOpmlData.folderwatcher.prefs.folder + "mystuff.opml"

It gets a little more complicated to refer to something in a sub-folder because the path delimiter on Windows and Mac are different.

But there's a way to do it, and it's pretty straightforward.

So here's the latest. An .opml file extension seems to work now with includes. I don't know if something has changed or if I was only imagining I needed a .txt file to make it work. Also I dumped the newsriver subdirectory, renamed the template and put it right in www as newsRiverCss.opml

Now the line in my newsRiver.root.newsRiverWebsite.#template reads <%file.readWholeFile (dotOpmlData.folderwatcher.prefs.folder + "newsRiverCss.opml")%>

To review, if this line is in the template, and you have any style information in a file called newsRiverCss.opml in the webroot of your OPML files directory, you'll see the CSS rendered on the NewsRiver page in your browser. The style can be regular CSS format, with curly braces, colons and semicolons -- it doesn't have to be in Frontier CSS outline style. You do have to comment out the text between the style tags.

My OPML editor keeps crashing this morning. I just reinstalled. Wonder if I didn't update something. The base editor stuff seems fine. It's only when I add newsRiver.root back in that it seizes up on me. Maybe Dave's working on it. Also the template link up there isn't showing up online yet. Maybe it needs a little time. I'll check it after work.

Sooo... you have a great Friday, now, y'hear? It's supposed to reach 50 degrees in Chicago today. I hope to get a chance for a stroll around the lake in our office park between meetings.
