OPML war? Sounds like a high school clique feud. Can we just not play? Must be the Boston crowd. Or bits of it, just guessing. I listened to Alex Barnett's podcast last night. One of the participants (I can never keep voices straight in an audio crowd) mentioned he would be working on RSS and OPML and APIs for maybe the next several years. I thought to myself, "Wow, that's quite a commitment; I couldn't say that about myself." I'm sure I'll be on to the next new thing that catches my imagination. But it's not about who clocks the hours and months. It reminds me of a long-ago feud in a very different online community when a rather uncreative member claimed to own a part of an original creation. Another member, a wise old bird, said "Try to remember you are only embroidering on our gown." Made some changes to the draft 1.0 home page See it here. Only trouble is now I can't see where an original Hil drawing might go on that page. Maybe it's better to start with the Mash it (developers') section, anyway, where I have a more definite idea about what the illustration ought to be: developers and users partying together. I love it when Hil goes off on tangents, but here's what I'm picturing: mostly Coke cans and maybe one wine glass and pizza and/or Chinese takeout boxes, laptops and gadgets messing up a table. Old and young, brown, black and white women and men having the time of their lives. Hil, is that too complicated? We might use it fairly small but show it bigger if you click on it. |
