Personal DNA is a cool little feature. The personality quiz has toys I've never seen, like the bucket with sliders for weighting a trait.
I promised myself I wouldn't spend more than 15 minutes on that picture. That's why I didn't finish the legend. People love to gaze in the mirror, but what I think what people really like to see is how they stack up. I didn't think I was that much of a girly girl (femininity is yellow, to the right of blue for boys). If you have a lot of a particular trait the color is a brighter shade. Feature, product or business? Who was it who said that is the question? In Web 2.0 land this thing probably is being planned as a business. Doesn't it seem like a lot of Web 2.0 featurebusinesses are things you stick on web pages, and that many of them, like this one, are slicker versions of what the kids have been sticking on their MySpace, Xanga and LiveJournals in recent years? And on their Geocities and Homestead sites in earlier years. As with features like the 3Bubbles chat app, it annoys me that it probably will be the next big thing, even though I like it a lot. It should only be the next nice small to medium thing. I know investors won't curtail their enthusiasm because people like me sputter about having seen the free, unAjaxed versions of this same stuff for 10 years. It's not that we're jealous of the glitz. I believe it's dangerous to be romanced by the superficiality of old technology with a new suit of clothes. It's going to contribute to making another empty bubble. |
