Greenpeace founder says nuclear power could save the planet. Almost nobody seems to have noticed that Dave proposed a date range for Bloggercon IV in June in San Francisco. I can't guess why he didn't mention it on Scripting News. Maybe he's trying to gauge how it's going to work to get the word out about stuff like this when he stops blogging? Next day: it's on Scripting now. Never mind. No mystery. Whew! Saved, or at least reprieved I've been wanting to see what Second Life is all about, but I know I'm slightly obsessive, so I watch myself before getting into things like this. This morning I went so far as to register and download, but my graphics card is too old. It'll probably run on my laptop, but the roadblock gives me another chance to stop and consider this... I picked my name: Pippa Laffer. The style of the OPML logo lends itself so well to an oval-shaped embroidered patch that I think there should be no OPML t-shirts, only work shirts (light grey, I'd say) with an OPML patch. Dustin on the MS team blog says they'll be available in just a few weeks. Lisa says it's her kids' first egg hunt. I found myself all wistful in the drugstore this week, wishing I had a little kid to assemble an Easter basket for. It became kind of a tradition to include a baseball cap and sunglasses when my kids were 2-7 or so. A stuffed animal or two, of course, a staple in our family, where they each have a special voice and a unidimensional personality centered on a single character trait. I settled for buying a big bag of Starburst candy and sprinkling them around. It's another tradition. They are not really hidden, they're just everywhere and you don't round them up, you just grab one when you feel like it for the next few days, and laugh when you find one in December. I won't be one of those women who dread the grandma label and all it implies. I can't wait to "talk" the stuffed animals again, read bedtime stories, and try to peer inside the brain of a new little person discovering the world. |
