Big Love on demand Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Dave must not have OnDemand on his Comcast service. Maybe it's not available in all the systems. It's great. It gives you an automatic archive of all the HBO series that you can watch any time, just as if you had the DVD.

I'm glad Dave mentioned he's watching Big Love. I feel kind of guilty about having more than one TV show that I feel I must see. I never used to have more than one at any given time. It was easy to get hooked, with it following the Sopranos. I finally remembered where I'd seen Margene. She was Johnny Cash's first wife in Walk the Line.

I also feel a little guilty about my fascination with the premise of the series, but I get past that by looking at it as something like a sci-fi type "what-if." The show is billed as a non-judgmental take on polygamy, and the amazing thing is it works. It probably wouldn't work if the main action took place on the compound, which we're meant to be creeped out by, I think.

HBO sure does deserve credit for not sticking with the formulaic. Though, in a way their own body of original programming is becoming its own genre with its combo of comedy and drama and a big dash of quirkiness.
