Going to cancel Netflix Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Maybe only for a while. See how it goes. For the first time in my life, I'm just not much into watching movies. Surprised the hell out of me when I realized that. I'm sure the desire will come back. Meanwhile I have Comcast's OnDemand and a lovely collection of literary adaptations if the urge kicks in.

My happiest moments as a Netflix user have been when I'm on a kick to watch a whole TV series. During those times I start walking faster as I near the mailbox after work and feel my mood shift according to the presence or absence of a fix. My kids and I did the entire seven seasons of Deep Space 9 with Netflix DVDs. It became a part of our lives and it was sad when it ended, sort of the way you feel when you've finished a great book you wish would never end.

Been messing around with Google spreadsheets Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I can see some value for certain things. I was a little surprised to discover I would be able to use it at work, but my IT department is blocking only gmail.

Speaking of IT departments Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I just got the OPML Editor back on my desktop at work after several weeks without it. I bugged the help desk so often and for so long that they finally gave me administrator rights on my computer so I can install it and fix it myself. I'd missed having the rights. When I moved from another department at the council almost a year ago, I went from a laptop to a desktop and lost my admin privileges.

I use the editor at work for to-do lists, and to document processes, mostly. I'd still like to try to persuade some colleagues to try instant outlining as a collaboration tool, but no luck yet. However I explain it, it sounds like too much trouble. Maybe more likely, too much trouble to change habits. We humans, we can be stasis junkies, can't we?

It's just not practical to ignore IE Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I found these cool forms using graphics and CSS via Monkey Bites.

I'm going to try it, but I can't ignore how they look in Internet Explorer as John the maker of them presumes. I don't think anybody can, quite yet. It would be impossible for me at work where everybody on a PC has to use IE.

Later: I already changed my mind. I'm not going spend time trying it, much as I like it. Gotta prioritize your farting around time, right?
