Geek Entertainment TV sold itself to PodTech.net and the principals will stay on, reporting to Scoble. This internet video thing, it's not exactly fading away, is it?

New Rocketboom ep is up Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The kick is up, the kick is good! Wednesday show. Nice way to address the troubles, a quick funny nod to it and move on. Joanne seems real.

Appropos of the occasion of the return of Rocketboom Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Henry Higgins and his pal Colonel Pickering on pulling it off. You Did It.

"You should have heard the ooh's and ah's;
Ev'ry one wondering who she was.
(You'd think they'd never seen a lady before.)...
They thought she was ecstatic
And so damned aristocratic,
And they never knew
That you did it!
"

You know what I would do if I didn't have to do a few hours of work work tonight? Grab some audio from My Fair Lady. Maybe sing it myself (I do a mean Higgins). Fire up Flash, maybe toss in a clip from "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," and fade out the old face. Oh the fun I'd have. But I have this day job and it needs me tonight. Blogging fulltime would be just heaven, wouldn't it? Maybe I'll just see if I can find the audio...

Later: This must be from the stage version.

I like the movie soundtrack better. I have it on vinyl... but I have to work!

Just one more thing, and then I'm really going Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Marvin Gaye and Henry Higgins clocked in on the same blog day before.

It takes one to bump one Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Technorati has been keeping current on my links in the past few days after a massive catchup over the weekend.

I just need one more link from a blog that's never pointed here before and I'll be in the top ten for blogs tagged OPML. Just one.

What's going on, tell me what's going on, ya what's going on Permanent link to this item in the archive.

In the OPML editor, when I go to NewsRiver > Do scan now, and I see this:

What is happening?

Ted Turner is a brash entreprenuerial character Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Maybe that's a clue to how Jason Calacanis gets away with being such a maverick within Time Warner. They're used to it and respect the type even if they don't understand it?

I listened to a podcast interview a few weeks ago with Cnet's CEO who said his company has a history of being able to keep acqhired entrepreneurs happy. I wonder what the secret is.

Though the acquirees never pan out in my observation, I have worked with a few people who are independently wealthy and chose to hold jobs in organizations. They made all kinds of things happen because they could afford to take risks. I don't mean they made risky investments or decisions; I mean they indulged themselves in living their own personal styles without regard to corporate culture. In other words, they were free to be themselves because none of the traditional leveraging points were in play, and the ones I knew were wild rebels. They didn't kowtow to their betters, or respect the hierarchy like the rest of us have to (or think we have to). Ironically, they earned personal respect as a byproduct of their lack of respect for organizational conventions.

My low ICQ number is worth a little cash Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Current auctions of ICQ UINs. I've held on to my 177-117 for some reason. As proof of my early-adopter status, I suppose.

Not much branding in evidence Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I can't see any Time Warner branding on the ICQ site. I noticed the same thing a few months ago about the AIM site, but it's not so completely brandless. They do have little AOL links at the bottom and use the little running person mark. To look at the page as a whole it doesn't scream AOL. Makes you wonder if they have been planning to spin off the IMs as part of the grand strategy to be presented to the board next month. NYT writer Saul Hansell called the proposal to ditch the ISP business an "unusually draconian plan."
