Just saw Dave's post on the Google archives. Stuff on me is mostly about franchises and taking naps! My early web claim to fame. (The softball player isn't me, some other Amy Bellinger, could be a distant relation; she's from Michigan, too.) Quite a bit on Pemberley. I listened to TWIT's latest episode on the way to work this morning. The English guy (I don't know if he's Robert Heron or Wil Harris) said Spiral Frog was totally lame, or something to that effect. The deal is, you can download Universal Music Group .mp3s for free, but you have to listen to ads. See, I don't think that part is such a horrible idea, if that's as far as it went. But you can't save the songs or play them on an iPod, and you have to keep going back to the site to listen to more ads so your music doesn't die (bye-bye American Pie) and that's what makes it laughable. Poor record label people, they're trying but they miss by just enough to make sure they're ridiculed. I wish, when groups of people do podcasts, that they would each say their own names at the beginning, like 15 times to burn in the listeners' ears the way they speak. Or maybe somebody should device a little sound check song to do the same thing. As many Gillmor Gangs as I've listened to, I still sometimes can't distinguish some of the speakers. Steve, Doc, Jason, Hugh, I can always identify. Dan Farber, Dana Gardiner and Mike Vizzard I can't always tell apart. Or it might help to keep the number of participants down to three or four. Remember an old Dick Van Dyke episode when the writers plus Laura and Mel put on a variety show for a Christmas edition of the Alan Brady show? They sang a song consisting entirely of Alan Brady's name (except for Laura's little ego pip at the end). Podcast guests could sing their names like that to help listeners. Any requests? I do a good rendition of Mr. Ed, too. Guess what I think happened at Rocketboom? Andrew Barren says he thinks more women are watching Rocketboom. I'd be interested to hear more from him about that. See if it jibes with my ideas about it from a couple months ago. |
