Studio 60 characters diss bloggers Sixty-second audio clip (mp3) from this week's episode, wherein one of the Big Three players worries about snark from Bernadette of The Bernadette Blog. I think the networks are going to find out that putting their shows online is only going to help in spreading the word virally. If people can make clips this easily, as I did, with Mp3 My Mp3, which records any audio your computer is playing, it's not going to take anything away. It's going to add. Screenflicker Mike is dieting along with other bloggers, and he put together an OPML file so well-wishers and lurking fellow travelers can follow the progress. Something I found when I put together an OPML file of bloggers covering BlogHer: bloggers don't write every post on the particular topic you've made the reading list for. Duh. Making a reading list of category feeds from various blogs would be ideal for something like this, but not every blogger uses categories or tags, and not every blogging platform supports category feeds anyway. Of course, categories and tags aren't the only way to filter, and soon some of those filtering methods are going to take hold, don't you think? OPML output with Optimal. Have you seen Dan's new(ish) widget generator page? An afterthought on the OPML icon I woke up thinking about this, and just wanted to clarify that I don't think the designer intends to deceive in implying that Dave asked for a new icon, but I also don't think Dave's post about the validated OPML badge should be used in an argument for adoption. Other bloggers are already quoting the icon page by saying things like "Dave asked for a beautiful new icon," and I don't believe he did. I can certainly understand how any web designer would wish for a design to appear on millions of websites. It would be quite a thing for a resume or bio. My advice would be to lighten up on the marketing, let the design stand on its own, and see how adoption naturally flows out from this point. If it has merit, people will recognize it. Can't seem to get subbed to it in iTunes. |
