I was wondering the other day if I could learn Laszlo. I learned I could learn it today, but now I'm not sure if I'll take the trouble. Good to know a little about what it is in case I run into it or the need for it some day. They make learning the scripting really easy, but docs on deployment are so hard to locate and decipher it almost makes you think the open source branch is a deliberate black box. It's open, but there is a different kind of price. I guess you might say that's fair, but I might say it's annoying -- and it hampers adoption. Never mind me. Guess I'm done for now. Though the colors aren't Southwestern at all, there's something of a Native American blanket look about it. The shapes and contrast, I guess. The Flash MP3 player I'm playing with was made by Marc Reichelt, a German developer, so his Flash files have German layer names. I really like thinking of backgrounds as hintergrunds. I think I'll call them that from now on (except in code, of course!). I suppose if I wanted to go the whole Way in that Direction, I'd also think of a Hintergrund with an initial Cap.
We used this simple, servicable player on the podcast jam site. It's also used in Loudblog, the LAMP podcast puttertogetherer, another app made by a German developer. I used Loudblog when I was doing my lit game podcast. |
