Tom Dowd and the Language of Music was just on Encore. I'd seen it before, but I'd forgotten how fun it was to see Dowd listening to the different parts of Layla and playing with the mixer. Because he was having so much fun. As a next step in the remixing culture, I'd like to see a band (or rights holder) willing to release separate tracks. Seems like that's something Podshow might be able to make happen. I can't imagine anything much better than playing that great piano part in Layla, and have Clapton and Allman come in to join me. Time to haul out my Halloweeen story about how I became a feminist 40+ years ago. OK, I'm starting to get scared No more reading blogs that comment on Studio 60 for Amy. The naysayers are freaking me out. Let me try to characterize the remarks quickly by trying to get inside the head of the anti-intellectual, then run away and shake off the heebeegeebees. I've seen this before. It's about anti-intellectuals who are insecure and defensive. It works like this: - Hear a piece of dialog that reveals both characters own a volume of Strinberg - Subconsciously note "I don't have collections of plays on my shelves and I would feel left out of that conversation" - Out of personal insecurity, make the leap that the dialog takes aim at me - Come out swinging |
