Curious about Podtech hiring bloggers, and farming info from blogs Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Scoble talked about hiring bloggers at Podtech yesterday within the context of his content mall idea. Wonder what they're doing. If it's all about helping businesses get into "social conversating" I wouldn't be interested, but if it's something else, I'd be up for a moonlighting gig if they could deal with my particular type of rebel.

In fact, with all the conferences they cover, maybe Podtech would be interested in doing something with me on my temporaily abandoned experimental asynchronous off-site conference discussion scheme.

I really enjoyed listening to the BrandIntel CEO on Podtech's Marketing Voices podcast. Doesn't sound like they count NBC-TV among their clients, but wouldn't I love to see the report by whoever did the environmental scan on Studio 60. I had the sense from reading the network's prepared statement mentioning enthusiastic fans, that they must have gleaned some of that information from blog content analysis.

I'm all for companies seeing what's going on in the blogosphere and using it to gauge the climate of the market. I just don't like the idea of their spending an equal amount (some of BrandIntel's research accounts have budgets in the millions) to manipulate the sphere. And, very sorry to be so blunt (but I really don't wish to behave any other way), I had a very negative reaction to the podcast host's sign-off line: "May all the voices you hear be marketing voices." Oh my. That pierces my soul.

Why can't I get that image to show up? I'll wait a few minutes for the vageries of upstreaming to align themselves with my wishes, then maybe Hil wouldn't mind my using the drawing from her site.

Sometimes you don't want to use a feed for a topic-specific reading list. Unless you're using a category feed, or a search or tag feed, not all of a bloggers posts may be on topic. Only trouble is you can't read it in an aggregator. Is there some small manual change I could make to the file to trick an aggregator into thinking it's something like a feed? Now, don't make fun of me, but I just tried wrapping all the plain outline text tags in a channel tag with a link tag -- and the file merely drew itself up to its full height, looked at me with scorn and asked me would I please stop my damnable naive tinkering with its innards.
