Figuring out People Aggregator Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I volunteered to see how Marc Canter's People Aggregator might be used to organize local and virtual parties around a celebration of 10+ years of blogging and Scripting News. Some rough notes as I stumble around with it are here. Marc's eager to help; I just like to stumble around at first. It's my way.

"Mr. President, the majority of Americans oppose you on Iraq. We are not emboldening the enemy.

All of me, all of you Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I used to like to believe simplicities, like that one about un-self-actualized guys devolving to unidimensional personalities centering on rage and lust.

As I get older, I understand what Somerset Maugham was saying in The Moon and Sixpence when he (as the first-person character) reflected that the younger him believed people to be more "of a piece," while the more experienced him knew that most people have rich multidimensional characters.

A conversation with a younger friend at work yesterday bore this out. I was complaining about myself, and how I couldn't seem to lift myself out of this seasonal affective thing. I mentioned that I could be a resentful curmudgeon and Pollyanna all at the same time, and she didn't see how that was possible.

Do you think that as you get older you're better able to reconcile many facets of yourself and your acquaintances?

This weather is bullshit. I keep trying to find hope, but candidate nuggets of hope are so pitiful. Like, "I'll be so glad when the temps climb into the 20s by Thursday!"
