Jeff Jarvis didn't like last night's part 3 of Frontline's series on media. He said he wanted a different hook for it. Well... I guess we can't always frame the story for somebody else's show. At a simple level it was neat to see our folks on Frontline. I agree with Jeff that story planners and, gee, practically the whole world loves to frame issues as fights: new products are called [fill-in-the-blank] killers, cable news interviews are always debates. I always think of it as a guy thing, but I could be wrong. As for POV in the Frontline piece, I found it to be one of those eye of the beholder things. I thought the Columbia J-school guy, and the Tribune execs who were not satisfied with 20% profits came off looking like dicks. Probably to others they seemed heroic. |
