Anxious for MobaTalk Permanent link to this item in the archive.

WordPress got game, don't you know. Because it's so modular and attracts so many third-party developers. I'm anxious for MobaTalk to open. It works with the WordPress podPress plugin, and lets blog readers record audio as attachments to their comments or phone in a comment. Also allows video and image upload in comments. Cool, huh? I used a hosted forum years ago -- Hil do you remember? It must have been in '98 or '99? -- that had the audio record button capability and I was always surprised that the idea never took off. I guess there's a time for everything.

Later: When I installed the new version of podPress on my Clip(s) of the Week blog, the recording seemed to be enabled, but it looks like there's a name change and relaunch in the works, judging from this message I get when I hit the record button:

I'll have to look into it later. I'm going to be late for work, and we wouldn't want that. Thursday's my busy day. Hope you all have a interesting and productive day.

Help me figure out what to decide about the chatbox. When I first put it in I said in a post that other bloggers (I might have said OPML bloggers) were welcome to put it on their blogs. I was interested in the idea of sharing chat across blogs. Bill Giltner took me up on it just a day or two ago. I don't want to be rude, but I think I've changed my mind. The chat has evolved from being an experiment I wanted to try to something more like a IM with friends and a way to enable a different kind of commenting for my commentless OPML blog. While Bill seems to be a perfectly decent person, I don't know him. He was nice enough to email and ask if I was sure I wanted to allow it, and I said I wasn't. Wasn't sure. That I'd check with you and look at traffic and think about it. What do you think?
