The evil that 'many people' are calling for that almost nobody is calling for 

I see a lot of railing against a call for a bloggers code of conduct that has almost no traction.

Bloggers like to get all indignant. Is it in our personalities, and that attracts us to the form? Or does the net culture shape it? Or both? Or neither.

I think I've always been a little didactic. I try to watch for it and tone it down when I'm making myself nauseous. Sometimes I can't see it or forget to look.

Seems like voice recognition software might be a good way to teach literacy to adults. Let students record their own words, then learn to edit them. It might reduce fear, and take the mystery of the written word, making it just a different kind of talk.
