My employer estimates 497 people will die on U.S. roads this weekend. I'm going to visit my parents in Michigan, taking the train. Mostly I take it because I can't abide the traffic bottleneck getting out of and into Chicago on the Indiana Tollway. Right around here is where it gets really bad, and you can't avoid it at any time of day. If it's not rush hour, there's perennial construction or a million trucks. Why is this tucked away on CNN International? (I know.) Seymour Hersch talks about an underground U.S. policy, built on fear of Hezbollah, to support hard-line Sunni jihadist groups. Via Frank Paynter. Headed out to this place for a graduation gorging. These are the times I'm glad to be a boys' mom. |
