Time-shifted habit hit me in the face Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I never did Tivo, so the last year or two of using Comcast's OnDemand service has been my first experience with time-shifted TV watching (never really liked to tape much either, not sure why). Anyway, it startled me a little today to realize that three episodes of the new season of Big Love have been shown, and I've watched them as I feel like it, but I don't even know what night they're first shown on HBO. I heard it wasn't Sunday anymore, but when? Don't know, doesn't bother me not to know. New ones just show up like periodically like elevators.

Margene and Bill's mom both completely crack me up, and I really like that Bill loves the old wife best.

Anne, writing on Web Worker Daily, is wondering what Google has up its sleeve with the Gadget funding program, and what's in it for companies.

Good questions. I was hoping, maybe Pollyannaishly, they're reaching out to developers or just hackers or remixers who couldn't get a boost any other way, reading "companies," but thinking "cottage industries" or "individuals who might become little companies" rather than development companies already in the game. Munchkins. New blood.

Yeah, I knew that Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Found this quiz on Chris Judson's blog. Amazing how it nails the accent from a short page of text questions.

The quiz result code keeps crashing my editor. Here's the screenshot

Americans can take the quiz. Well, I guess anybody could take it but it's designed to detect U.S. regional accents.
