Moyers mentions that Hillary Clinton is in Murdoch's pocket, something my ear was primed for after seeing Sicko last night, which tells about her getting in bed with the healthcare industry too. Working within the system, and running mates Hillary must be doing what she thinks she has to do to get elected. Ends and means, maybe, but ends-and-means justifications are slippery slopes, bound to provoke suspicion, and it's not like she inspires a lot of trust anyway the way she seems to measure her words. I dare say she's no more calculating than any other politician, but maybe not as good at hiding it? Obama has kept the gloves on with her, only talking in general terms about his relatively populist funding, but it might be time now, with the new campaign financing numbers coming out, to step outside and get into confronting Hilary about what may be expected of her from the special interest groups giving her money. Or not. You suppose there's some chance they'll end up as a ticket? There hasn't been much talk of running mates yet, but with other milestones in the campaign cycle like the caucuses and primaries happening earlier than usual, it seems like the speculation would be starting. Do you think Cheney's power has made the vice presidency a more appealing job, not so much like a consolation prize? What would be your ideal Dem ticket? Gore-Obama? Obama-Biden? Clinton-Richardson? Clinton-Pelozzi? Could a Westerner like Richardson substitute for the supposedly required Southerner? Send one. Sample rate should be a multiple of 11000 so you don't chipmunk when it's played in Flash. |
