Couple weeks ago Doc Searls cast a wish into the ether for a service that would marry Twitter with Dopplr.

Turns out there's an effort in emergency tech space by InSTEDD called contactsnearby to map socnet contacts to locations.

Matt Terenzio has a good feel for these kinds of mashups and common underpinnings, and has started a new blog called Gangbuster. Hommage à NewsGang which, I think, is all about all kinds of convergences, tech<->tech, tech<->politics, tech<->youNameIt.

What do I know but I keep thinking the glue has to be some agreed-on element that would tie APIs together.

All this connectedness can make you go all collective unconscious if you let it, can't it?

Smart of his campaign to think of asking supporters to spread the video around. They're getting this viral thing, that's encouraging. These kinds of videos can have so much more power, passed from friend to friend in email and on blogs and social networks, than TV commercials, where all that money is spent, and which we're conditioned to view askance. It's not just a geek medium anymore, when you consider that anyone with an email address can play.

One trouble might be that bloggers, who try to be original (special) and who like to post material not seen elsewhere, won't take the trouble to embed the video. That's where we have to squint and screw our heads on sideways, swallow our pride, and think about the power of repetition -- just like the right wing does.
