I had the pleasure of attending my first Geek Dinner in Cambridge yesterday. I have to say that it was absolutely fantastic, and surpassed my every expectation of what a Geek Dinner might constitute. I loved the range of conversation - from "What the heck is OPML?" to "Lets talk and figure out how RSS and OPML can help solve some of my business problems". It was so interesting to see the range of things Geeks do for a living - from running Yoga studios to being full time mothers. As well as the range of things Geeks do for fun - from flying helicopters to running bakeries. And it was wonderful to be awed by legends of the computing world: Dan Bricklin, Dave Winer....and to meet David Berlind who I have read for years, and Lisa Williams whose OPML Fan blog I read to make sure I don't miss anything in the OPML Community. Another bonus: a list of new blogs to add to my reading list. Dave, thank you much for arranging the dinner - it was truly fantastic. Much inspired, us Boston geeks plan to gather again for another Cambridge Geek Dinner on March 1st. With any luck, we will find a way to lure you back to the East coast, and have you in attendance.. I'll post more information on the next dinner soon. Meanwhile, if you have venue suggestions or other suggestions, email me at blabovitch@yahoo.com p.s. Here is a partial list of those who attended last night (in OPML) |
