PSP vs. DS...nah Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Lisa Williams has been telling the OPMLosphere about my DS gaming, while always talking up her PSP. I got both on the first day (I'm that kind - yes I'm getting my Xbox 360 plans in place) and I've enjoyed them a lot. I'm playing SSX On Tour on the PSP right now and it's fantastic. I must say that if you're interested in inovation, the DS is where it's at right now. When the specs for the two machines were released the DS looked like a joke and possibly the end of Nintendo. I'm giving them a big benefit of the doubt now. It's a great, fun machine that developers are starting to figure out. Kirby: Canvas Curse is an amazing platform game played totally with the stylus and Mario Kart is showing that Nintendo finally gets online gaming. The current tactic on the PSP is take a PS2 game, cut out some features and some graphics and ship it. That's OK because it's fun to play some of those games on the go..but. And the original big advantage, video, turns out to be just to much of a pain. The small memory size on the card makes managing video to bothersome. Here is where the video iPod kills it. Yes the screen is small but I have all of Firefly and The Prisoner and I just picked up the complete Buffy most of which I havn't seen. It'll all go on and I'll have planty of room to spare.

Yes, I like to talk about games - and gadgets :-)

Lisa, what are you playing?

Mario Kart DS Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Nintendo's new wifi service is up and I hopped on with Mario Kart DS last night. Let's just say the results were surprising. OK, I got my ass kicked ten races in a row. Looks like I'm going to have to hit the single player some to practice.
