atanarjuat! atanarjuat! atanarjuaaaaat! By dwatts@gmail.com (Donovan Watts). [Donovan's thoughtStream] this is what I was worried about... One of my thoughtStreams on my walk to work this morning was the idea of doing a podcast of Creative Commons music and offering it to the local college radio station to fill a programming slot. I did a show there last summer and may do one again this summer. I hope Donovan's thoughtBlips don't turn out to be like Blipverts. I saw Calvin Johnson after work today, performing in-store at Hot Poop. Just Calvin and his guitar, calling himself a "traveling troubadour". Afterwards I asked him what the founders of Op Magazine were doing now. It didn't sound too exciting, at least to Calvin. Reading the quote below from Calvin's bio on the K Records site, I'd say he's still headed in the right direction. "The interpretation of punk rock that was presented by Op Magazine was about going beyond being a consumer to becoming a participant. It was about taking control of the medium for yourself for your own entertainment or expression. They institutionalized this concept. And I saw it as not just the right direction, but the only direction to follow." |
