No news Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Still no news about the car. They're supposed to get the parts, they are supposed to call me when they arrive, after they have the parts they said that it'd take an hour and half to complete. So as of now... no news.

Hookah and Kabobs Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I just got back from lunch at Alf Laylah Wa Laylah. I had all-you-can-eat kabobs... chicken lamb and beef.l Served over rice with salad. It was really good. They have hookahs.... I'll add that to the list of things to try in the future.

Stuck in Chantilly Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Well goodness. It always seems to happen to us this way. We left for Chantilly on Fridy evening and arrived at the hotel for our , just-because-get-away, about 8. We drove around the area and settled on getting a snack from Baja Fresh before heading over to the BIGGEST GAME STORE IN THE WORLD! at least that I've seen. The stores in the Baltimore area are just tiny. We woke up on Saturday, went swimming, then got some food from across the street and started heading to downtown DC. We didn't get but a mile down the road before our car started acting up.

The best way for me to explain it is that while sitting at a light the engine would idle as expected, but as I'd hit the gas pedal, the RPM's would drop out and the car would hesitate. I only noticed this happening about 3 times before it started getting really bad. I pulled over and decided to figure out how to get it to a shop. We got the hotel to pick us up a nd bring us back where we could use the internet and stuff to figure out what to do, but by that time 2pm on Saturday all the shops we called were already closed. We eventually had it towed to a shop who looked at it and gave us a quote, but mentioned they wouldn't be able to fix it until Monday.

Well it's Monday. Our friend picked Amy up and took her home yesterday to rescue the babysitter, and to get to her OB appointment today. I stayed at the hotel an extra night and slept in. I'm getting ready to call the shop to make sure they're able to get all the parts. Check out time is noon. So I'm sitting here for a bit before heading out, since I'm gonna have to sit around somewhere else for a few hours, might as well be comfy.

Other facts about this weekend. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

We met up with Miles and Brookelynne and saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at the Udvar-Hazy Museum's IMAX. IMAX is nice for a 45 minute movie but a bit much for a feature lenght movie. It was particularly loud and very big. I can't decide if it was the movie or the bad-chinese buffet we had for lunch but I ended up quite sick after the movie. Brooklynne too, but she's pregnant. I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and lay down. I eventually threw up and slept for an hour or so before I felt like I could eat dinner. I felt significantly better, but still like crap. When I woke up yesterday, I felt fine.

I almost was killed by the shuttle driver last night. I was trying to get to a Caribou coffee that I saw online, it looked like it was near other stuff like a mall or something, but by the time we got out to where it was, we never saw it, but it was all business park. I don't know if the guy didn't understand what I was trying to do, but I sure didn't understand him. He kept driving really erratically and got honked at like 14 times, and we were just a mile down the road.

I got a free dinner at CiCi's pizza yesterday, and almost wish I hadn't. The cashier was taking the money from the lady in front of me, and did n't have a 10. I was paying with a 10, so I told her to just give me the change for mine. She gave me 10 ones and told me go on and get my food. Excellent. It was good, but upset my stomach again. Eating all alone stinks.

My dad has something wrong with his prostate. His urethra keeps getting blocked by something. His bladder ends up filling up and he can't pee. He goes to the ER and they catharize him and then he's fine. This has been happening for about a month now, and it's not getting any better, it even sounds like it's getting worse. He's having surgery on it this week. Pray for him if you would!

Watching MTV Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Yeah Yeah Yeah's video - Gold Lion is really cool.

Another artist I want to look at is Painic! At the disco.

Why can't MTV play these video's in the evenings and during the weekend? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I just asked for a late check-out. I called the shop they say they don't have the parts yet, but are going to be able to get them all. It'll be an hour and half or so after they get the parts to be finished. I'd love to be in MD before rush hour.... but I don't think it's going to happen.

I'm Going In! Permanent link to this item in the archive.

So it's almost 8pm. The youngest is in bed, and our oldest is falling asleep on the couch. As soon as Jimmy Neutron is over, he's off to bed, and I'm going in. Going back to work.

My co-worker has been out since Tuesday with pink-eye. Yech. we've a crazy backlog of tickets, and I can't seem to get anything done during the day. I have a specific task planned for the evening. Image and join 12 laptops and 8 desktops to our domain. We've been putting them off for so long.

It seems that I put in at least one extra shift in a week. Hopefully it'll be noticed, but I don't think it will. In fact, unless something changes, I'm sure it won't. Things are so tense at work. I need to spend my evening time updating and getting my resume out.

So it's been a few days Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Perhaps I should post my queries to the OPML-Newbies mailing list instead of my blog, it doesn't seem to be checked often enough. Or perhaps it's because I dont' update often enough.

Everybody's working for the weekend Permanent link to this item in the archive.

This weekend Amy and I are going to stay in a hotel in DC. Just to get away. Our good friend Elizabeth is going to take a chance and watch the two kids for us while we're gone. I can't remember if we've even had a single night without the kids since Bo was born. I'm looking forward to it.

Yesterday while thinking about this weekend, I realized that the kids have become so much of oru lives that I don't even remember how we did anything without kids. I'm not worried per-se, it's just kind of sad. I hope that we're able to re-connect, kidlessly :-)

Hopefully, we're going to meet some new friends for lunch on Saturday. Perhaps do a museum or two. Maybe see a movie on Friday night, or Saturday, or both! Then we're going to visit a different church on Sunday morning before heading back.

Good Afternoon OPMLand......Caribou coffee good! :-) Yep. that's an after-lunch coffee! Today's choice - Fireside Blend (a lighter, of their dark roasts). I hear this morning they had the Perennial Blend brewed.... but I missed it today. Maybe tomorrow. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

My lovely wife wrote an awesome little entry about our life... wrapping in what has become a social hobby of playing games, not poker, but games... she amazes me sometimes. As you can probably see, or not depending on how well your eys work. I'm working on porting my wp theme to the OPML editor. I'm having some trouble, if you happen to see what's wrong, could you let me know? Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Last night we went to the mall to get our pictures taken at JC Penny's. The creepy photographer guy didn't want to tell us how we purchase the pics. He just sits us in front of a monitor and goes on to take photo's of the next customer. We were both pretty frustrated with the poses and couldn't decide on one that we really liked. We ended up getting some pages, mostly because we didn't know if we could get back in for another appointment. While we were walking out, an old friend who happens to be a photographer at the store on the weekends stopped by. As we walked out, I explained my frustration. He told me that he doesn't pressure people into buying anything either, it wasn't pressure that we were expecting it was guidance, and a desire to be helpful. He also mentioned that he doesn't need to help people make up their minds, because his pictures sell themselves. Creepy photographer guy's photos didn't. As soon as we get the email with the link, I'll make sure to post them. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I've been playing with 30boxes.com, It's a very cool, ajaxy calendar app. It's got some neat sharing ability. I think I've got it worked out how to get the OPML Editor to talk to it, but need to run it by some folks who know this stuff better than I. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Anyone out there in the Mac Country of OPMLand have a spare SCSI drive for a mac?

I've inherited a Blue and White Powermac G3 that seems to have a bad HD. I think I should be able to ghost it, but I don't even know if I can boot with a ghost boot disc with a Mac. Does anyone have any experience. Oh, here would be the best, a HD and an OSX cd. Anyone?

Another day, another outline Permanent link to this item in the archive.

A standard everyday task for us, changing backup tapes, was made less wearisome today because 3 of us pitched in to make light the load. On a normal day only one of us is responsible for changing all of the tapes, about 200. It's the highlight of my day most days! (note the sarcasm).  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

After lunch with my beautiful wife and adorable kid, (so humble, I know), I came back to my desk and I'm still listening to Donovan's thoughtStream #14. It's perfect ambient noise/distraction to my work. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

It seems like it'd be so easy to route this into the wordpress posting thing too. Maybe I'll stop in the thoughtstream campfire later today and find out what Donovan thinks. maybe les too. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Checking out l.m.orchards decafbad. He blogs in reverse order. And generally just blogs one or two sentences about whatever. It's almost like Donovans thought streams. I'm going to try it out today. It'll probably end up being a lot about work. I apologize in advance. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Importing/Exporting OPML Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The Problem Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I was chatting with Donovan in his campfire chat, it's more for thoughtstreams, but since he's thoughtstreaming using the OPML editor I picked his brain a bit. We discussed my main use of the OPML editor, which at this time is to document procedures and processes (what's the difference between these two words).

I'm doing this for audit purposes and eventually our auditors are going to need to view the documentation, not to mention I want to be able to hand the docs over to someone who should "ideally" be able to do my job just by looking over the docs. So without making these folks intall the OPML editor, what would be the easiest way to share the info.

The Current Solution Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The current work around I have for this is to copy out my section of the outline and paste into a Word document. Then I select all and hit the outline button, and save this document.

Ideal Solution Permanent link to this item in the archive.

An export function, to export to Word would be excellent. It's the ideal format to share with auditors and management.

I'd like to build this myself, but I don't have a clue where to begin, I'll take suggestions in my email dean@NdeaOn-o.SoPrAgM (remove the capital letters), or you can chat with me on AIM dron321

Other thoughts. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The outline could be multiple documents, via inclusion, such that the procedures for installing software are a seperate document, from the hardware, but can all be pulled in via a main outline. I don't completely grok inclusion, except when more than one person is maintaining an outline.

Anyway, such is my thoughts regarding OPML today.

My Instant Outline Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Not sure what the use is, Donovan tried to explain it, but figured I'd post a link to it here...
