today's podcast was simultaneously broadcast with nicecast.
thoughtCasting
use nicecast to broadcast the recording of the podcast.
open port 8000 for nicecast thoughtCasts
port 8000 is currently being used by Summary
nicecast makes it drop dead easy
i'll be recording my podcast of today's thoughtStream in a few minutes. and i'll be using nicecast instead of audio hijack pro so you know what that means. you can tune in and listen live as i record my podcast. let's call it a thoughtCast.
playing right now on Donovan's thoughtCast:

guy kawasaki: the art of pitching
one of the main things guy points out is to ask yourself, "so what?"
i.e. our widget is built on a solid layer of xrf 2.0b technology.
So what?
ye-hi! got my first listener.
think i got it figured out. sheez. you'd think that all this router configuration would be easier these days but it took me a number of tries thus far to make this thing work. it's tricky because i'm broadcasting from my laptop, which is plugged in to the network wirelessly via the Airport Hub, which is plugged directly into the DSL modem.
i'm broadcasting on http://71.112.106.239:8000/listen.m3u
turned on UPnP on the router. trying to nicecast and see if that works. i've got my firewall set to allow traffic on port 8000 so if the UPnP stuff works, i shouldn't need to tell the router to forward to port 8000 on my laptop, right? we shall see grasshopper.
If UPnP or NAT-PMP is on, Nicecast will configure the router for you.
neat! i didn't know that if you resize a window of a PNG format graphic file that the graphic itself will stretch to the new size. too cool.
rogue amoeba: If your router supports UPnP or NAT-PMP, you can open up Nicecast, sit back, and relax.
enclosures and feedburner. don't attach two enclosures to one post ![]()
i'm really not happy with the enclosure situation. in yesterday's post, the enclosure was the thoughtStream theme zip file, not the podcast mp3 file. both were linked to from the post but feedburner decided to pass on the zip file instead. or nnw decided to only see that enclosure. not sure yet.
ok, then. that tells me that my experiment yesterday doesn't work. if you only put out one post, then you cannot have multiple enclosures linked to from that post. otherwise, feedburner doesn't know which one to pick and apparantely it can pick only one. the one it chose for me was not the one i would have chosen.
so, back to the old way. it is easier this way. just need to keep playing around i guess.
4:20pm saturday. power just came back on. right after i built a raging fire to protect us from the cold.
iconbuffet. free icons.
my opml blog is three hours later than my time zone. how can i change this?
today i will break from the tradition i set yesterday. all entries will be at the same level in the outline unless there is some logical grouping for them.
it's very windy here in redmond. the power has already gone out once. i have a UPS so most of my gittup kept on tickin.
i just can't sleep. my days have turned into nights into days. well, i can sleep, just not until three or four in the morning.
using my workspace.notepad to write these entries. blogs.opml.org is down again and i'm waiting to post yesterday's page so i don't want to start up a new one just yet.
megaseg not itunes. i definitely want to get my music selections and sound bites into megaseg so i can use that instead of itunes for my thoughtStreams.
textpander. got a mac? use textpander to expand shortcuts into anything you wish.
podcatcher doesn't play for me. i click on the up arrow but nothing plays.
when i create and release a thoughtBlip mp3, it would be nice to be able to send the permalink of the entry which the thoughtBlip is linked from to the Comments ID3 field. That way, once the mp3 is released into the wild, a person need only look in the comments to see exactly where this mp3 originated. yes, i could copy and paste the url into the field myself but i want my computer to do it at my whim.
feedburner only understands entries that are indented. this is unfortunate because the word 'null' will be displayed on your site when using buzz boost code. as well, the links to your feedflare links will only appear for entries that are indented.
links added with a right click other than mp3s don't work so well because, for instance, i'm getting some funky files in my Enclosures folder. They look like they are named like link I've added to posts except that they are truncated. i'm only going to right click and add links to mp3s and outlines from now on until i can solve this.
man, opml server has been down for the past hour or so. i want to put out my last save and hit the sack. i guess dave must work on it at night or it gets backed up or something. seems pretty regular at night to go down for a spell.
