thoughtCasts go down easy
For rapid absorption into the brain, you can get an earful of my thoughtStreams, let's call them thoughtCasts (podcasts), delivered right to your computer or audio device such as an iPod. Just subscribe to my rss feed in a news reader and you'll get my thoughtCasts automatically.
thoughtBlips (aka brainFarts) are audio recordings whose topic
solely covers the thoughtStream post it is attached to. Just click on the speaker:

Can't wait for your next thoughtCast fix? Sheesh... Stop your shaking.. tune in to a live stream of audio direct from my laptop to your ears. Check the home page to see if I'm on the air in case you don't hear anything. In other words, this thing isn't always on.
Here's how to tune in
- Open up any MP3 player that supports MP3 streams, such as iTunes or QuickTime.
- Look for an option such as Open Stream or Open URL/Location.
- Enter my thoughtCast stream's address into this field and click OK.
- Enjoy!

Currently, I have one theme available for OPML Editor. It's called the thoughtStream theme and it is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license.

View the readme file in your OPML Editor. Copy the link and then choose Open URL from your OPML Editor File menu. Paste the link and then you should see the outline in your OPML Editor.

Hello. My name is Donovan Watts. I like to experiment and try things. And by reading this site, you are participating in my thoughtStreaming experiment; rapid fire weblogging, podcasting and broadcasting. My goal is to become my own media as effortlessly as possible while using smart tools like the OPML Editor and formats such as opml, rss, xml, properly tagged mp3s for my thoughtCasts and other fun stuff.
It's not just about weblogging and podcasting anymore. I hope you enjoy my experiment.

exactly one year and one day ago i wrote my life affirming Yucatan, ho! post. after fleeing the scene of a relationship wreck, i needed a place to get away. my eternal thanks to canton for the opportunity to get some thinking done.

would be nice to have a skype node type i just added my skype address to my directory of donovan. 
hello, mr find & replace dialog in the opml editor. would you be so kind as to remember your position when i close you? thank you.
i wonder if the opml editor will someday become a more mac like application? for instance, the Preferences would be located underneath the OPML menu, rather than the community menu. and apple-tilde would not Format Text but rather switch among the open windows. and when i double click a window menubar it wouldn't open the parent, it would minimize the window instead. and the font/display used would be more mac-like somehow. not sure how but there is something definitely not mac-like with the fonts. it's novel how the about OPML menu choice opens the About OPML status window. i really like that. but it's not very mac like, whatever that means, i guess. not taking shots here, just thinking out loud about something i think would make the editor better for mac users.
a fundamental issue i have with outlining is what to do with nodes that belong in two places? i wish there was an alias function.
amy, i believe those icons came from the fabulous Radio UserLand tool, activeRenderer. marc, the creator of the tool has been down this icon node path already. that's party why i pointed to that page. i guess i should be joining in the fun on the email list. unfortunately, activeRenderer site isn't coming up right now.
wilk asks how we watch threads. i check in at changes.opml.org (far too much) and i subscribe to the feeds of those i'm especially interested in. i too use technorati and other tools as well but mostly i just keep my ears open and trust that the things i need to know will find me or i'll find them.
as project manager for Getting Sites Built, i essentially live at basecamp. most of time is spent applying the getting things done system to my client projects, setting milestones, adding next actions, communicating with the team. it's all a dance.. and i like to dance.
i wonder if marc has abandoned activerenderer? site is down. i was going to look to it for prior art regarding inclusion links for our outline nodes. he's been down this path already and had individual node type icons already whipped up. was really cool.
take a gander at my outline based production notes for iceplant radio. here's the OPML file i created them in. it was cool and i used radio userland to do it. i created my outline in radio and saved it as an opml file. activerenderer took that file and rendered it into a neat collapsible web page. it's like getting the benefits of an outliner in a web page. neat, neat, neat.

why can't i run opml editor and radio at the same time? address conflict.
