have you seen the video by sean kelly about creating better web apps? holy crap. that guy is like a robot. a good robot. how did he make that screencast? how does it move so fast in other words? i imagine he records segments and then has a way to speed them up. does that kind of thing require iMovie or something? egad. please.. not another application for my toolbelt. but i would love to mimic some of his style. great flow, tight verbiage, quick timing, etc. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

thanks to mr. paul allen and his sci fi museum, i recently saw the original outfit that logan 5 wore as well as the one that farrah wore. it made me all fuzzy and warm inside. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

for the avatars, they could have bubbles over their head like we are used to seeing in comics. those bubbles could be the words we type here into our outlines. our thoughtStreams. and since this is more than a just a text outliner, the programming part underneath could certainly be wired up to also have some kind of control over the avatars such as one would type into any game console to tell the character what to do. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

i'm not a gamer. at all. by any stretch. but i was completely taken in by snow crash and when i saw my nephew controlling his online counterpart in a 3d world, i knew this was something that would someday get much more of my attention. i'm thinking the time might be ripe because all this blogging makes me wonder, ok, so what now? what's next, brother d? remember, this is a thoughtStream and i think to myself all the time. can't turn em off so i run with em. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

if anything, how about put a View News button in today's outline. i'd much prefer my RSS to be handled automatically like every other blogging system i've used. putting a View News button right at the top of today's outline makes the newsriver tool easy to use. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

i believe the 'Build RSS' button should be a preference setting and removed from view. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

gravity is nonsense. i wish i could tell this to the editor about opml window. float baby, float. you can do it. gravity is nonsense. i believe it and you believe it. so it happens. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

can someone explain to me clearly what this whole jabber client angle is to the editor? i just don't get it. at all really. would like to grasp it though. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

maybe a logan's run type of community. i've talked about this idea before in a school setting (four years and your on your way to other pastures) but now i'm thinking about OPMLastday. that's when any opml community member who's been with the community for a pre-determined amount of time must submit to xml-rpCarrousel (the glorious ceremony in which you retire your opml blog and are reborn as a writer (thoughtStreamer) free from the shackles of titles, links, descriptions). and there would be assigned rsSandmen to seek out the opmlers who would flee from xml-rpCarrousel and this could all take place in a virtual, avatar snow crash kind of environment. if you watched the video i linked to earlier today and my personal site, Donovan's Run, you'll see what is feeding my thoughts. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

the opml editor, so simple in it's design, is my web console outliner. i write in it, and push commands at it. it hosts my site and uploads my files without me needing to touch ftp. it  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

i'm intrigued by the idea of a true utilitarian form of an opml community site, one that is designed to wear away. apply the idea of a rubber tire to a web site here. i keep thinking rogue. to me, throwing some opml editors around an impromptu community server environment for maximum idea sharing and then disbandment is romantic. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

been busy working.. good for eating and that sort of thing but bad for thoughtStreaming. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

"Rubber has rarely been used to fabricate lavish products and, in true utilitarian form, rubber items have traditionally been designed to literally wear away." - janet blood from rubber! Permanent link to this item in the archive.
