made it. one full waking day with no posted thoughtStreams. 
been in learn, learn, learn mode. switching to textdrive has led me toward a few avenues i'm going to explore.
those avenues are, in part, installing lighttpd, a much leaner, meaner alternative to apache, hieraki, a heirarchical wiki, and typo, a ruby on rails weblog system that supports the metaweblog api. marsedit can talk to it. let's hope opml editor can as well.
looking for an open source webmail system that looks pretty good? check out roundcube.
Photostack is pretty lean too. i'm going to give it a whirl to handle some photos instead of gallery. gallery is might impressive but it's kinda overkill for some things so i'm glad to know about photostack.
