Dave is digging into the CSS puzzle. It seems that a decision made in 1996 is affecting us today. How's that for an example of cause and effect? Update: Success! Dave did it! Read all about the solution here. Ye-hi! Thank you Dave and Marc. Read on for some of my note-taking on all this. What's the end result? A neat way of adding a customized blogroll to your OPML Editor template. Check out my Cloud Atlas home page and scroll down until you see the green box in the column. That's the end result of what happened. However, on a bigger level, OPMLers gained the ability to easily create stylesheets in the outliner, add a macro to the template and you've got your CSS. Nice. Before this, we had to keep all the css in a separate file.

I'm having a much better time Alpha and beta testing products these days than I did ten years and more ago. Back then I was always in such a hurry. As if some kind of deadline for progress loomed. Now I know better. Progress just happens. Decisions are made and sometimes, down the road, we either live with the results or change things to match our new needs if possible. If it's not possible or too much energy to expend for the payoff, then we fall back to this mantra. Zig, zag, and all that jazz.

3 new parts loaded when I updated opml.root but that made my Community menu go away. Ack. Guess I better install the latest OPML Editor and get back on track.

You see, I was in an OPML Editor half world. I backed up my current OPML applications and documents folder, tried the new version and goofed by entering the wrong username. None of my posts were visible and I knew I had to try again. So, I did. Reinstall but something else wonky happened that I can't remember so I reverted back to my old OPML application. Somewhere in there, I updated and now I'm using the old OPML application 10.1a3 but the NewsRiver is a main menu item. It's also under Tools too. I wonder if I should try again or continue on with this frankenstein-like creature? He sure is playful.

Testing, after the upgrade, is this thing on?

Alright, looks like I've upgraded successfully.

Happy birthday to my old, good buddy, Willbilly. I hope you are well. I miss the tight friendship we once had.
