Daisy demanded a bath. I've been neglecting her cleanliness and it shows. How could I refuse Daisy? We found a wash, popped in a ton of quarters and hosed her down. On this sweltering day, the mist felt good upon my skin. Look how Daisy shines!
Daisy wanted to show off her glow so we drove around town, half-heartedly keeping an eye out for Lazy Daze Headquarters. Guess what? We found it! They were already closed but now we know exactly where it is. There were some fine looking rigs in the yard. We'll be back for a tour in the near future. Sprocket snapped this shot to prove we were there. He likes to document signs.
Shazaturday thoughts of Grasshopper ![]()
It's been reaching 100 degrees.
The hunt for a Class C continues. As research carries on, my Pop told me to have a look at Lazy Daze, a rig with a very good reputation. George too likes Lazy Daze and would replace MsTioga with one if he could afford it. Sure enough, as I began making my maniacal google rounds, Lazy Daze always seems to be attached to other words such as 'best', 'quality', 'owner's are cult like', and 'custom'. Well, that's enough for me and now I've significantly narrowed my search criteria. Late 70's, early 80's 18' - 22' Lazy Daze. I'd like to spend no more than $5000.
Sprocket suggested we hop in Daisy and head over to the head office and see how they are built. We are located only a few cities away from Lazy Daze and it would be fun to get some pictures. We shall see, Grasshopper. I like that name, Grasshopper. I think I'll name my next rig Grasshopper. Oh, you want to see what one looks like? I think this would be a good Grasshopper.

Here's what I imagine. On top of the Grasshopper one would find a Motosat satellite for internet anywhere accessability and two or even three solar panels. Inside, there would be four to six 6-volt deep cycle batteries to store the mighty sun's free electricity. In between the panels and the batteries would be a Blue Sky controller to make sure that the electricity gathered is properly transferred to the batteries. And to top things off, there would be a Tri-Metric monitor to keep an eye on things.
The satellite costs over $5000 to have professionally installed. As well, there is a $99/month cost for internet access. This means that anywhere I go in the U.S. and parts of Canada and Mexico I can have internet access. At a pretty decent speed I might add.
Since the satellite option is so expensive, I might have to stick with cellular service and limited location options at first.

For cellular internet access, I have a Verizon unlimited data account right now. I would consider getting a Verizon data card and a Kyocera KR1 Wifi EVDO Router as Rich Charpentier, author of The Digital RV, has for his internet access. Rich just hung his Kyocera up on the wall of his Airstream. I like his simple workstation.
The good thing about the Kyocera router is that it takes your Verizon access and sends it out via wi-fi so that you essentially create a hotspot wherever you go.
To manage my notes on this whole process, I'm using OmniOutliner Pro, an excellent outliner for the Mac. I can easily organize my notes, add links, pictures, fancy formatting and more. I even have a budget in this program. Excel is just too much overhead for my simple needs.
As The Shining plays on tele, I sense an eery likeness to Jack. Is OPML Editor to me as the typewriter is to Jack? All work and no play makes Donovan a dull boy.
