One task I perform for Lori at The Nova Studio is to post her classes to craigslist. It takes me about 1/2 hour per month. Check it out and take a class! ![]()
Today I'm working from The Nova Studio in sunny Pt. Richmond, California. ![]()
These days, I'm much more careful about the bids I propose to potential clients. I've been burned, so to speak, by not doing my homework and I have vowed not to let it happen again. That's how us humans are supposed to progress, I think. Develop patience, ask a lot of questions, proceed with caution and then, when everything has been taken into consideration, review the whole thing again and then come up with a price.
Even then, it's totally possible to have miscalculated something, somewhere. And since I work with a partner who does much of the heavy lifting, profits for me can sometimes be quite low. Too low and I can't survive. Charge too much and I won't get the gig. Quite the balancing act. My strategy is to be up front about the actual costs with everyone involved, try to offer up possible scenarios and ultimately, do what I can to help others get a presence on the net, while still making enough to eat healthy and maintain a roof of sorts over my head.
Macworld sent an email offering me a complimentary six issue print subscription. No thanks. Physical mail is almost non-existant for me. Give me the virtual sub and I'll take it. On the other hand, keep your stinkin' magazine. Like leaving the television behind, I don't miss all the ads and propaganda pushed on me by the rags.
Lori and I went for a nice, long walk this morning in the Point. Walking as exercise is my thing. It's a beautiful day in the Bay. How fortunate we are to live here!
