I watched a news bit on WHDH Ch 7 this morning saying that Yahoo and Google will each be offering a new email service to customers for between 1/4 to 1 cent each to apply a spam filter to their email. The male news reader gave the report. The female partner responded "oh, do you know how many emails I get every day?" Huh? WTF? The story got my curiosity up so I went to my computer for a quick news scan. Here is what I found: Postage is Due for Companies Sending Email AOL and Yahoo! to charge for emails More than 200 online articles saying the same thing. Business news = a rehashed press release. But at least the online folks got the story correct. For the story behind the press release mumbo-jumbo read about the telecom companies who are planning the privitization of the public internet. Google planning private network Smells like an AOL to me. |
