MSM is Bush Propaganda Machine Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Today was a big news day so I watched this evenings local and network news. What was the reported top story today? Bush's announcement of new details of a thwarted 2002 hijacking plot aimed at a downtown L.A. skyscraper. WTF?

This is what happened that did not get reported by the MSM:

Cheney 'Authorized' Libby to Leak Classified Information

Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been "authorized" by Cheney and other White House "superiors" in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the Bush administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with Iraq.

Libby testified to the grand jury that he had been authorized to share parts of the NIE with journalists in the summer of 2003 as part of an effort to rebut charges then being made by former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson that the Bush administration had misrepresented intelligence information to make a public case for war.

Wilson had been sent on a CIA-sponsored mission to investigate allegations that the African nation of Niger had sold uranium to Iraq to develop a nuclear weapon. Despite the fact that Wilson reported back that the information was most likely baseless, it was still used in the President's 2003 State of the Union speech to make the case for war.

But besides sharing details of the NIE with reporters during the effort to rebut Wilson, Libby is also accused of telling journalists that Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, had worked for the CIA.

Felon Jack Abramoff Describes Relationship With President Bush

Abramoff describes meeting Bush ³in almost a dozen settings,² and details how he was personally invited to President Bush¹s private ranch in Crawford, Texas, for a gathering of Bush fundraisers in 2003. Abramoff did not attend, citing a religious observance.

 Bush "does not recall" Abramoff.

Criminally-indicted Rep. Tom DeLay

Has scored a soft landing Wednesday as GOP leaders rewarded him with Duke Cunningham¹s former seat on the Appropriations Committee. DeLay also claimed a seat on the subcommittee overseeing the Justice Department, which is currently investigating an influence-peddling scandal involving disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his dealings with lawmakers.

Bush's American Spy Program is a Failure

A Washington Times article states that U.S. law enforcement sources said that more than four years of surveillance by the National Security Agency has failed to capture any high-level al Qaeda operative in the United States. They said al Qaeda insurgents have long stopped using the phones and even computers to relay messages. Instead, they employ couriers.

Bush knew by midnight August 29, New Orleans Levees were breached

Congressional investigators have now learned that an eyewitness account of the flooding from a federal emergency official reached the Homeland Security Department's headquarters starting at 9:27 p.m. the day before, and the White House itself at midnight.

The Republican "Culture of Corruption" Prescription for Big Pharm. Companies

Republicans Bill Frist and Dennis Hastert secretly slipped language into the defense bill, after it had been voted on and passed, language that nobody knew about, and that wasn't agreed to, and so it became law. What was it about? It shields pharmaceutical companies from lawsuits. Trial lawyers and other groups condemn the law, saying it could make it nearly impossible for people harmed by a vaccine to force the drug maker to pay for their injuries. According to the Center for Responsive Politics Frist has received $271,523 in campaign donations from the pharmaceutical and health products industry since 1989.
