Lingo 

I was tickled that Amy liked our saying that someone has 'lost the plot'. I hadn't thought of it as unusual. She gets the meaning just right. I also had a smile over another conversation between two Aussies about the veracity of a report that prisoners had just been let loose in New Orleans during the hurricane. One pointed out that it couldn't be true because of the story of an Aussie who had been listed missing turning up in jail.

'Seems like it was just a furphy'

'I was going to suggest it was a furphy, too, but then I thought others would have Buckley's knowing what a furphy was.'

Hopeless 

I'm hopeless. I keep vascillating over that picture. I posted it yesterday, and then later realized with time zones added in, it would go under the 9/11 date. That felt inappropriate, so I pulled it. Today, shocked again over how poorly the Hurricane Katrina disaster has been handled, I put it up again. I also keep wondering if its appropriate to comment about another country's internal politics, but it seems part of the global nature of the web.
