I'll knock up some smaller ones...

Also, I'm toying with the idea of making a version of the changes.opml which links to the rss feeds instead of the html blog pages.

Should just be a matter of converting the urls from http://blogs.opml.org/username to http://hosting.opml.org/username/blog/rss.xml

Then I can use it in this baby, with different branding of course ;)

EPSONBLOG? Ha! Permanent link to this item in the archive.

It appears that Epson have started Blogging. As a corporate sponsor of the 10th IAAF World Chamionships in Athletics, they have started a blog to track (ha!) events.

The funny this is, they're using Google's Blogger to do it. Now sure this could probably be a deal in the background, but it could also be the result of a big corporation not quite knowing what to do about blogging (like many others now - time for 'feed consultants' as a jobspec I think ) and someone simply going ahead and using an existing system. They are even using a free blogspot account to do it!

And the trouble with that is kids...?

WHERE IS THE RSS FEED????!!!!

At least they have comments switched on.

Thanks to TimWatt for this info, who is off to the event.

REGISTERING A NEW PROTOCOL? Permanent link to this item in the archive.

OK. So, I've been thinking about things like the Skype callto button, which when clicked will invoke Skype and open a Skype call to the name at the end of the callto:// if the person who clicks it already has Skype installed.

 Here's how Skype explains it

If you don't have Skype, your browser will usually inform you that callto:// is not a registered protocol or another error like that.

Hmm.. it appears that internet exploder is interpreting the link and adding a trailing slash, breaking the link. (Firefox seems OK)

Hmmm again. It could be something else. Testing... dig... dig...

 ...

So, does anyone out there have any idea what Windows registry settings might be needed to register a new protocol? I have the power to set these things, during installation of some software I'm building here, and I'd like to let users put a button on their blogs to invoke the app (if installed) when clicked, in a similar way.

This could provide some 'one-click-fun'

Hey, maybe I'll call these buttons OCSUBS [one click subscriptions] heh :)

DUE UNDO? Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I wish there were more levels of undo in the the editor. One mistake? Pah! Two in row? You've had it.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE Permanent link to this item in the archive.

OK. Click on my header graphic above and it will take you to the index of my blog. Scroll down and see the list of posts. Then go back up to the calendar and choose a page.

See something missing? It would be nice to have the date at the top of a day's page too.

I'm looking forward to having a hack away at the blog renderer, which might be on the client side soon, as it is currently on the server.

PODBAT DIGGIN' Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Coo! I've been ploughing for hours and hours through the podbat recently. Shouldn'tbe tooooo long now. It's good to get back into it with a bing! and a boing! instead of a grunt! and a crunch!

Development has been crunchy recently
