I wish our local police force websites had RSS feeds. Particularly here. Re: this accident, involving my mother and two nephews :(
Waiting for more news...
The news story written there makes it sound like the car was driven over the central reservation. It wasn't. There is a sliproad turning, with Give Way/Yield which you go through to cross over the oncoming traffic, in order to make the turning at that junction. I know this junction very well and have never liked it.
I've never had to deal with any family 'trauma' like this before. I don't quite know why I'm writing this here either. It's like some strange personal blogging urge. You never imagine for a moment that these things will happen to your loved ones, especially to the youngest member of the family.
God, I hope he's OK. His initials are O.K.
update: Apparently, he's now been transferred to a children's ward, out of the ICU. This is a GOOD sign. He sounds quite bruised. :(
Mum's fine but shaken and bruised and my other nephew is fine apart from a cut above the eye from the fascia flying off with the airbag. The car and the seat he was strapped in to did everything they were designed to do.
He's a really strong little lad, and full of beans as you can see from this video clip [14mb wmv] I did of us all out 'asphalt surfin'. This was his first time out on a bike, with me and his bro' on wheels.
apols/thx to The Ramones and Reverend Horton Heat.
and thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. they are very much appreciated. :)
It's at times like this, I wish the West-countryside, rural home-town area where I grew up was a bit more 'hyperlocal'. There's a great podcast here from Radio Open Source with fellow OPMLblogger Lisa Williams about this very subject.
