FLASH DEVELOPER : ericd has a podcast Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Great stuff. I wish more uber [flash] developers did podcasts on the technology and tools I'm in to.

RETURN OF BLODGET Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Henry Blodget blogs again.

HEY TECHCRUNCHERS! Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Please come and see something I've made for everyone :)

Also, there's no reason why it coudn't pull in RSS feeds and include a podcast player (as this version does ;) )

FLASH 8 DEVELOPERS SHOULD READ THIS Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I was just digging further into the new Flash8 API and found this lot. Yummy! :)

 Life gets easier.

GOT DATA? YOU DA HOST? ARE YOU DAVE WINER? READ THIS. NOW. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

In fact, everyone who hosts useful machine-readable code such as RSS and OPML and like to make it 'open' should read this - HELLO BBC!? (they should have a wildcard in there. I will try to 'make this happen')

Eg: For the OPML data on our blogs (hosted on hosting.opml.org) to be accessible Flash hosted on any other host (eg: www.techcrunch.com) you must read these instructions (in OPML) to make that work.

So, in our case: http://hosting.opml.org/crossdomain.xml MUST exist.

FYI: The only way I can make this work on other domains without the participation of a domain owner is to use a 'proxy' script on one of my domains and flow the data through that, therefore kidding Flash that the data is coming from my domain, where there is a crossdomain.xml too.

The disadvantage of this, is that my proxy script gets hit with all the bandwidth of the data flowing through it. Bad idea.

Solution? Try to contact the owner of the domain somehow ;p

The reason why the techcrunch widget (down on the right side there) works without a proxy is that both the the flash and data are in .opml.org
