Erm.. I just read more on Mitch Ratcliffe's blog about Audible regarding their 'Wordcast' system for listener stats..."We're all young in podcasting—Audible being one of them, having invented downloadable audio, the portable audio player..." ?? WTF? nah. For a company founded in 1997, I say: hmmmmmm. Rio had the first consumer MP3 player, to my knowledge. And a 'portable audio player' would be a radio, right? ;)
I think it's high time someone got on the phone to the Fraunhofer Institute and ask them what they're up to. They invented '.mp3' Or how about get hold of Professor Hans Musmann from the University of Hannover in Germany.
They have video of the keynotes by Jason Calacanis and Leo Laporte on www.techcasts.com, which are pretty interesting and funny in places.
I wish someone did an OPML file, listing all the active podcasting going on over in Ontario California for the Portable Media Expo. That way I could stay up to date with any new content created over the expo. The organising Podcast Brothers have missed a little trick here, I think. Their main site should have something like that. I mean, how can you hold a (what just as well be) podcaster expo without having an RSS feed of participant's content flowing/aggregating through the expo homepage in a Flash MP3 player?? Still. Judging by the Flickr streams of it coming though, it looks like people are having alot of fun.
Now I suppose I'll have to go hunting for content. Oh well.
BTW: I just added the PodcasterNews OPML file to the Bluggcaster. I used the OPML Editor to create this mini OPML directory of all the shows they have there. Also, sent them a amil about a few 404's I found. ;)
