The error to me is the fact they everywhere they mention attributes, what they really mean are ELEMENTS! Surely??
Hmmm: thinking: they list alot of custom elements in their namespace g: so, are elements like this g:label called attributes? Where label is the sttribute? Hmm.. dunno.
The reason I got confused was this line after a simple RSS2.0 example:
The three attributes highlighted above are optional according to the RSS 2.0 standard, but we require your item contain a <title>. As we can see these attributes can only provide a limited amount of details about the item in this example
I read this and said to myself "eh??" They are referring to title, link and description which are elements not attributes.
FLAPPR!
OK. So, we've all seen Frappr by now, so I'm going to take a break from OPML and podcasting mullarkey to have a bash at fiddling with the Yahoo! Maps Beta API in Flash. It's really great, but only covers the USA for now. Come on Europe!
That's OK for now, as I have alot of data from my GPS device, which I posted over on Geepster, from the US.
The GeoRSS support is VERY interesting. I think I will make it so new pushpins are added to a GeoRSS feed which anyone can subscribe to. Then I'd have the map move to new entries in a side panel - which would also be subbed to this feed.
Also, possible to create a widget for bloggers to just sub to any GeoRSS feed and place the panel on their blog.
Apparently the current location restrictions are due to the postcode/zip/address search data which they have not been able to release yet, dus to the rights restrictions on this data.
You can buy the postcode database write easily for the UK though, but the API might it possible to uspurp other companies' services. I'm sure they will do eventually though.
