MAC TESTING COMPLETE Permanent link to this item in the archive.

There will be no more testing from me, as it is no longer required. There are now plenty of new testers and users who can try things out and provide (more) useful feedback to the developers.

If you are used to Frontier, Radio and that kind of system, then there's alot you could probably do to help the community by sharing your knowledge and experience. (And code!)

If you are a newbie, I emplore you to READ EVERY SINGLE POST on the mailing list before asking a question. There are plenty of people out there who can help you, when they get the time and if you ask in the right way. Be careful though, as these environments can be quite err.. 'thorny' at times. :) High and lows. it's all part of the process. Maybe you'll get used to it.

It was fun. Many hours learning and testing someone elses work (to help them) can be enjoyable on the whole. Don't feel like you're doing anyone a favour though, you may end up disappointed. No one owes you anything.

Good luck to others who try to do this alongside your own projects. Truly. Stay focussed on your own life and work, but have a go and learn from this exciting new tool. It has heaps of potential, but I don't have the energy any more to spend any more time on it at this stage.

Bye then,

Your friend, Kosso

Preserving dotOpml.root during upgrade? Permanent link to this item in the archive.

If anyone knows if it's possible (or indeed wise/unwise) to attempt to preserve stuff and changes made in the dotOpml.root file, I'd love to know.

I'd like to add some buttons and things which I'd find useful on a a couple of the windows. An update seems to blat the changes I make, as I expected.

During an update, which files are actually overwritten/updated?

Any pointers or info from the community (OPML? Radio/ Frontier?) would be greatly appreciated. Mail me at kosso1 at gmail dot com

I recently bought Rogers Cadenhead's book on Radio from Amazon, hoping it might help me understand how all this works under the hood, to see what the similarities are. There are alot of tools and macros for Radio which I imagine would work here, but no idea how to properly implement.

It's early days and I expect people who already know how to use this kind of software will run with it and create stuff (Paulo? :) ) which will help everyone. I hope to see a page full of howtos, examples and code snippets etc one day.

If anyone is reading this and has any idea on how to create a script for the right click menu to add attributes such as 'xmlUrl' and 'htmlUrl' (as used in subscription lists - so they show the 'paper' icon for RSS feeds) then I'd love to know. I don't seem to be able to add them manually.

I can't be that hard can it? Nah. :)

New update worked! Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The changes made to add a header graphic have worked ok. :)

Now, if only I could get the New Entry button to survive an update. Maybe I could ask Dave nicely if he'll add it. It's a bit of a pain to have to keep positioning a new outline for a new blog entry EVERY time! A simple edit to dotOpmlSuite.blog.buttons would solve it:

 New Entry

 op.firstsummit()

 op.insert("",up)

 wp.settextmode(true)

That would do it ;)

Time for bed. All working again now Permanent link to this item in the archive.

And I'm showing up on the changes page ok.

I still can't choose a header graphic though. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Also, how do I know which version I'm on on a Mac? I dont have the window telling me, which I do on the Windows version.

Hitting OPML > About OPML or Help ? About OPML does not give me any version info as I might expect.

Cooo.. a day passed already!!!! Lost my posts.. oh no.. there they are!! :) Permanent link to this item in the archive.
