Darnit. I thought this would be the case. The iSight FireWire camera does not work under WindowsXP. No drivers appeared, as I had hoped, on the driver CD that Apple's Boot Camp creates for you before installing Windows XP. For ages I have wanted an iSight to work on my Windows machine via its Firewire connection. No joy. I wondered if the drivers from Boot Camp might solve this issue for 'normal' Windows users too. Does anyone know of any driver hacks to get an iSight running in Windows? It's probably not the same as the builtin iSight cameras in the iMac and MacBook Pro. UPDATE: I just cancelled the driver install request and it shows up as a Generic 1394 Desktop Camera. But the image is over exposed - what with no driver controls and all. Here's a link I found with some drivers which might help. ;) Update 2: It works with Skype. So I imagine it should work with all webcam stuff. Security stuff etc. Cool!
Excellent. So far so good. Windows running on this MacMini! Weeeeeird! I might even run an OPML Community server on it, as it is so quiet and could sit on top of the kitchen cupboard all day and night. Hmm.
My nice new white Apple Keyboard just dies on me. No reason. No spillage. About a week old. Hardly used. WTF. So, I've bought a nice (hmm) black Microsoft keyboard (it's all they had - but still makes me chuckle - even though it's UGLY) and now I'm going to whack WindowsXP on it. Sorry Steve. And thank you Steve.
If you have Firefox, try going to this address http://http In IE I get no page at all, but rather bizarrely, in Firefox, I get taken eventually (possibly through some Googlage) to Microsoft's home page, where it was asking me to try out the new Beta2 of IE7! Hah! Funny old world.
[Or is this just a weird Yahoo! Small Business Hosting thing?] Weird : while building this lil ole system here for podcast.com I started thin k ing of words to explain part of the system. The directory. I thought.. hmmm.. 'podcastexplorer' - I'll go and see if this domain is taken. So, off I go to GoDaddy.com (with a 'todd' discount code, as usual As expected, it was taken. So I thought I'd go and have a look at what was there at the www.podcastexplorer.com - You will see a list of 'podcast' domains But when I pasted the URL in to the address bar, I didn't notice that I had left it to be https:// instead of http:// - eg: https://www.podcastexplorer.com Hmmm... I get a Yahoo! branded error page:
Hmmm.. Hmmm and treble-hmmmmmmmmmm???
Now the infamous Comic Strip Blogger wants a 'Widgetoon'!
