BBC RSS Feed Search Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Something I recently found from BBC News was via their recently upgraded (though still a bit dodgy) search engine.

HACKABLE SEARCH URLS - giving RSS FEEDS - W00t!

See these urls:

http://newsapi.bbc.co.uk/feeds/search/news+sport/zidane

Pretty cool eh?

Mobile News Permanent link to this item in the archive.

...is not new and not too difficult, when you consider that all you're doing is rendering out some RSS feeds on a simple web page and linking to the print version of the full story. OK. So the rivulet takes a little bit of effort and the right version can be hard to find, depending on the news source. The BBC has had a great mobile version of their news for quite a while.

I'm not knocking it, it's just that it's not that big a deal to do it. I did it a few years back to test on the various mobiles I have had, first by scraping news pages, then eventually (thankfully) via RSS.

I was thanks to me that the beeb started to link to their mobile version of news, through their mobile RSS feed.

Here s the REAL BBC mobile news service: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/pda/

Maybe Dave should submit his bbcriver.com to the BBC Backstage developers list - he might win a prize. ;)

Over in Europe, we've had mobile news for years. We've had smarter phones for much longer.

It's nice to see the old folks get old technology.

Bless 'em

Soon, I'll show you the mobile podcast directory browser I built a while back ;)

Steady now! Calm down. Heh.
