Point Lookout, Orinda

Today: 5809m in 30 minutes rowing lazily. Steady improvement. Doesn't seem to have done a thing for the weight, but what the heck. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Our bi-weekly status meeting with a client today. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

We were asked if we'd mind switching it to monthly. It's for them of course. Then someone comes up with the first problem in months, a confusing message that apparently means nothing.

Life is good.

Om Malik and Niall Kennedy did a podcast about the AT&T (SBC) Bellsouth thing.  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I lost the link. Shame. It was kind of a nice piece.

Anyway, they're off worrying about the infrastructure and broadband as well we all should be. But isn't the issue a Federal one?

The Federal Courts dismantled the monopoly. The dismantled pieces bought lobbied for the right to merge again. Now, penalty and cost free, they're busy reconsolidating into the monopoly.

I'm just whining. I want the fiber to the home delivering 54MB/s to the home in each direction that they promised the Fed and the States. We've paid for it several times over in the years since the lies were told.

And now, even though we're paying too much for this asymmetric DSL, we're hearing that they want content providers to pay for more than just connectivity? They want a tariff over the cost of the lines?

What kind of complete nonsense is that?

The good news is that nobody reads this. The bad news is that it's picked up by Technorati.

Watching Orinda. Watching the world.
